Dark Horse Brewing Co
The Game - Western Michigan vs. Michigan
The Beer - Dark Horse Brewing Co
Selected Six Packs
$11.99/$9.99

Okay, so Dark Horse is from Battle Creek. But that really IS just a stone's throw from Kalamazoo, and we figured maybe our visitors from K-town would enjoy a break from Bell's, another obvious choice. And what better choice than the Dark Horse of western Michigan's beers, er... DARK HORSE? Aside from making great beers that consistently get B+ or better ratings on Beer Advocate, we don't know what to tell you about this brewery. If you can decipher the inspired but incoherent prose on their about page, please enlighten us. We DO have two words for Western Michigan's team though: WE'RE SORRY. Have a beer, and enjoy lovely Ann Arbor, as you lick your wounds.

Reserve Special Black Bier Ale
Reserve Special Black Bier Ale
Conceived in a dimly lit room on a blistery cold night in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, but born and raised here in Marshall Michigan. The Reserve Special is the oldest of all beers in the Dark Horse family. It has an incredibly “thick” presence and when poured into a glass its color is so dark it’s eerie. The flavors explode onto your taste buds with heavy malt, roast, and chocolate, but stay very balanced. The Reserve Special Black Ale has a hard time being called a stout or porter but it fits nicely into the category of a delicious strong black ale. ABV 7.5%
Amber Ale
Amber Ale
Let us introduce the "red headed step child" of our beer portfolio. This beer is commonly over looked and is a true Ninja of a beer. While the malt and hops give this beer an amazing copper color, medium body, and a smooth mouth feel, it's the yeast that sets this one apart from other amber ales. Inspired by almost everything from Belgium (beer, women, mussels) we thought it would be cool to give our Amber a little Belgian love. So we used a yeast that is ALMOST like a Belgian yeast strain. You'll notice it in the aroma but mostly in the flavor. Mild hints of light fruit and clove are present at the very end of the sip, just enough to keep you coming back for another sip. ABV 6%
Raspberry Ale
Raspberry Ale
A lot of people have asked us "why are there Bee's on the label?” Well, we don't really have an answer for you other than they just look cool. This is a light bodied easy drinking ale. We only use real raspberries so the flavor is very mild fruit and balanced, not what you would expect from a "fruit" beer. The way we see it is we're brewers so lets make good beer, not some fruity carbonated malt beverage. Oh yeah, our motto..."beer first, fruit second". ABV 5%

The Game - San Diego State vs. Michigan
The Beer - Stone Brewing Co
Selected Six Packs
$13.99/$10.99

The big news here of course is that Michigan's new coach is San Diego State's OLD coach. The general concensus is that this will help lead to a Michigan win, but don't underestimate the magical power of a bunch of people out to beat their former boss! Or the magical power in all those creepy gargoyles that Stone Brewing uses to brand their exceptional beers. This one case where you'll want to hold your enemy's beer close, and their former coach even CLOSER.

Stone IPA
Stone IPA
An "India Pale Ale" by definition is highly hopped and high in alcohol - you'll find our Stone India Pale Ale to be true to style with a huge hop aroma, flavor and bitterness throughout. If you're a hop-head like us, then you'll love our Stone India Pale Ale! Medium malt character with a heavy dose of over the top hops! Generous "dry hopping" gives this beer its abundant hop aroma and crisp hop flavor. ALC/VOL 6.9%, 77 IBUs
Stone Levitation
Stone Levitation
It's been said that "Gravity Sucks." Simple enough. Well, we at Stone have identified gravitational forces in the beer world. And we have come to the conclusion that they, well, see above. So we avoid these less-than-desirable gravitational forces. We avoid dumbed-down flavor profiles and the vigorous pursuit of the lowest common denominator. We avoid big dollar marketing mentalities. We avoid additives, cheap adjuncts, stabilizers and chemical preservatives. So in the defiance of gravity we bring you Stone Levitation Ale. This deep amber ale has rich malt flavors, a big hoppy character, citrus overtones (courtesy of the hops and our special brewers yeast) and modest alcohol. ALC/VOL 4.4%, 45 IBUs

Mt. Pleasant Brewing
The Game - Michigan State vs. Michigan
The Beer - Mt. Pleasant Brewing
Selected Six Packs
$12.49/$9.99

In spite of a long history of smarty-pants Ann Arborites calling Michigan State "Moo U" because of their exceptional agricultural sciences programs, MSU will probably give Michigan a run for their money here. You'll want to hold onto your helmets for this one, and hold onto your beer too. Your Mt. Pleasant beer.

Trainwreck Ale
Trainwreck Ale

An American Amber Ale brewed with maple syrup and honey to give it a full body and smooth sweetness
Approach with caution. This one will sneak up on you! Brewed to keep us warm in the winter months, but easily enjoyable any time of the year. Syrup and honey give this beer an irresistible sweetness that makes it impossible to have just one. No matter what you pair this one with, make sure you get plenty to eat or you might find out how this beer got its name. ABV - 8.2%

Iron Horse I.P.A.
Iron Horse I.P.A.
An American pale ale with full hops flavor and aroma. Don't be shy, try it. Like any good I.P.A. this one has plenty of hop presence but not so much that it is not approachable by our hop-weary friends. Instead of "biggering and biggering" like so many I.P.A.'s these days we are keepin' it real with a beer that will make you want to drink more than just one. Don't worry though, hops heads, this beer still has enough bite to cut through any spicy dish you might want to pair it with. Try one, or five, with buffalo wings or a spicy blackened chicken dish. Iron Horse can also go quite well with shrimp, crab, or other light fish, so we have heard from a few of our loyal patrons. So, belly up and try Iron Horse if you have ever wondered what a good I.P.A is like. We promise you won't be disappointed. ABV - 6.6%
Cow Catcher Red Ale
Cow Catcher Red Ale
A medium bodied ale, red in color with a malty finish. This brew has bragging rights, it's our biggest seller. This crowd pleasing ale has plenty of hop presence to balance its malty sweetness. It appeals to drinkers with all levels of craft beer experience; yes we mean you college girl, and you too, Mr. seasoned beer professional. Experienced veterans of craft and the newly initiated can both call this brew their favorite. Pairs well with football and pizza, soup and a fire, or your backyard barbeque. Take some home to your sweetie tonight. ABV - 5.8%
Coal Stoker's Blackberry Ale
Coal Stoker's Blackberry Ale
An American style wheat mixed with blackberry juice and a touch of our Steam Engine Stout to create this dark fruity ale. We don't want to toot our own horn, but we will anyway. This brew is another top seller. Created by accident, a chance blending of raspberry wheat and stout, we recreated this crowd pleaser for distribution. Call it a mad scientist production, call it a miracle, call it dumb luck if you want; we call it serendipity. To those that claim they can only drink one fruit beer or that they don't enjoy them at all, please give this one a try. The blackberries are deliciously subtle giving this wheat ale/stout blend just that little something extra that keeps them coming back for more. Easy drinking by itself or, like the raspberry wheat, a great beer to enjoy with dessert. ABV - 5.8%

Great Lakes Brewing Co
The Game - Ohio State vs. Michigan
The Beer - Great Lakes Brewing Co
Selected Six Packs
$9.99/$8.99

This is one of the oldest blood rivalries in college sports, which may explain the crimson in OSU's team colors. You see, Michigan has won 57 times to Ohio's 43, with 6 ties. This is such an established rivalry that there's a Wikipedia page devoted to it. We don't stock any beers from Columbus itself, but Great Lakes Brewing Co of Cleveland makes some exceptional craft beers. We give them bonus points for their maize and blue color scheme.
